How to play Habitat Blueprint

Each blueprint is a miniature conservation project. The first ten stages use four habitat tiles; later plans expand to six. Read the field notes, select two tiles, then press Swap selected. Every clue updates after your move, with a check mark for a relationship that is currently true. The whole board must satisfy every note at the same time. There is no time limit, so you can think before acting and compare the arrangement with the notes at your own pace.

Understand the field notes

Sharing an edge means the named habitats are directly next to one another horizontally or vertically. Touching only at a corner does not count. A separation clue forbids an edge, while a row clue lets two habitats occupy any positions in the same row. “Directly below” means the same column and the next row. “Immediately left” means the same row and the next column. These directions describe the board as you see it, including when the surrounding interface uses a right-to-left language.

A reliable solving method

Begin with the strongest direction clue and imagine the linked habitats as a small group. A pair that must stay together can narrow down several possible positions. Then check the separation and row clues: these often distinguish two arrangements that otherwise look equally plausible. A green check is useful evidence, but one satisfied note does not prove that a tile has reached its final position. Keep all the notes in mind before choosing the next exchange.

The neighbour chapter changes how you move, not what a clue means. Only edge-sharing positions may exchange their contents, so a tile sometimes needs an intermediate stop. In the protected chapter, one position remains fixed and its label identifies the protected habitat. Later stages show a move budget. If you reach it before solving the board, the arrangement stays visible so you can inspect the mistake, undo one move, or restart. Undo restores both the layout and the move count; it never costs diamonds.

Controls, feedback, and recovery

Click or tap a habitat card to select it. Select a second card, then use Swap selected. Selecting an already selected tile deselects it; selecting a third replaces the older selection. Keyboard users can Tab to a tile and activate it with Enter or Space. The labels remain stable while selections change. Undo reverses the latest exchange and Reset plan returns to the starting layout. Leaving a changed plan asks for confirmation. Sound belongs to the common Settings controls, and reduced-motion preferences remove the exchange animation.

Results and saves

A completed blueprint records its stable stage number and your lowest swap count for that particular plan. Earlier cleared stages remain cleared after this update. Continue with Next Stage, replay to improve your result, or return to the stage list. The last stage leaves Next Stage disabled. Progress is saved in this browser only; clearing browser data or moving to another device does not transfer it. The optional Moonlight theme costs 20 shared diamonds once and permanently changes the habitats to blue evening lighting. It provides no puzzle advantage. You can switch back to daylight at any time. The price, balance, and permanent effect appear before confirmation.
