Routes and completion

The trail is arranged as six forest regions of five routes each. Each route is a sequence of enemy waves, so a cleared wave sends Fia farther along the path instead of ending the level. Enemy groups change their positions, shields, calls for help and attack patterns. A marked boss closes every fifth route, with a distinct warning and mechanic. The progress track measures the expedition to its finish; it is not a timer and does not force a result screen.

The route list contains 30 named stages, grouped into six regions, with a boss checkpoint at stages 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30. Clearing a stage unlocks the next and keeps earlier stages replayable. Later routes can award stronger equipment. The first clear grants the route reward; replaying a route is for practice and drops, not a second first-clear payout. At 100%, the checkmark is an explicit settlement choice: without it, combat continues as an endless hunt but the route meter no longer advances.

Controls and combat

Tap the battle area or the Slash button to commit one attack; Space also works on a keyboard. Repeated taps queue real swings, and a tap never turns into an automatic attack. The Auto switch is optional and can be turned off at any time. The two styles use the same targets and combat rules.

Every eighth swing becomes a heavier sweep that can reach the whole enemy line. Critical hits are shown on the hit itself and deal extra damage. Read each foe's warning, keep an eye on both health bars and their numbers, and choose a target before committing an attack. Enemies keep their lane when a neighbour falls.

  • Start a route, choose one companion and check the effects on your equipped gear.
  • Tap a target or press Slash to attack. Use Auto for hands-free swings, then switch back to tapping whenever you want direct control.
  • Watch for critical hits and the eighth-swing sweep. Spend your companion's charged skill when its effect helps the current wave.
  • Clear each wave to move forward. At the marked boss route, read its warning and change targets or timing to answer its mechanic.
  • When the track reaches 100%, tap the checkmark to settle the route. Leaving it alone keeps the battle going for extra drops, while the progress stays at 100%.

Companions and equipment

One companion joins each expedition. Nibs, Moss, Frostwing and Ember have different support abilities; their energy meter shows when that help is ready. Defeated enemies can drop companion tokens. A repeat adds shards to that companion, and enough shards raise its rank and strengthen its skill.

Equipment is collected as chunky, block-built objects. The seven slots cover the axe, head, body, hands, feet, charm and ring. Each item has a special effect—such as a sweep, chain hit, shield break, dodge, healing or energy gain—alongside its stats. A duplicate becomes a visible shard instead of another backpack item; collect ten for the first promotion. Promotion improves the item's numbers while preserving its identity and ability.

  • Tap at a pace that is comfortable; queued swings are not discarded while Fia is recovering.
  • Auto is a choice, not a requirement. Turn it off to pick targets deliberately or on to relax into a longer wave.
  • A shield is a separate layer of enemy health. Gear that breaks shields can make a tougher foe easier to finish, even when its raw attack bonus is modest.
  • Use the ally meter on a wave where its effect matters. Healing, barriers and attacks solve different problems.
  • Equip abilities for the route instead of comparing only the large stat number. Ten duplicate shards promote the item and keep the collection compact.

Player and Save Information

Axe & Ally keeps combat direct and readable: choose a target, tap or let Auto swing, see damage land, then decide when to spend an ally skill. Fixed enemy lanes make each change easy to follow. Equipment effects and companion abilities add build choices without requiring an extra timed-guard input.

Player Note · Player and Save Information

Progress, cleared routes, collected equipment, companion shards and upgrades are saved in this browser when local storage is available. There is no account, cloud sync, purchase or ad reward required. Clearing site data or changing browsers can remove or separate a save. Drops collected during a run are saved as they arrive; an unfinished route reward is not granted until you settle at the checkmark.

Frequently asked questions

How do I attack?
Tap the battlefield or Slash button once per swing, or press Space. Turn on Auto for repeated attacks; it is optional.
Why does the axe sometimes sweep every enemy?
The eighth swing in the combo is a heavier sweep. It is a predictable attack pattern, not a timing prompt.
What happens when the progress reaches 100%?
A checkmark appears. Tap it to settle the route, or keep fighting for drops; the meter stays full while the endless hunt continues.
Do I lose equipment if I fail?
Drops collected during the run are saved when storage works. A failed or unfinished route does not award its clear reward or unlock the next stage.
Why do duplicates show shards?
A repeated item adds shards to the same collection card. At ten shards, promote it to raise its stats without filling the equipment list with another copy.
Can I change my companion?
Choose one available companion in the Stage screen. Enemy drops can unlock others; duplicate companion drops become shards that raise that companion's rank.
Where is my save stored?
Only in this browser on this device. Clearing site data or using another browser can create a separate save.
