Four in a Row

Four in a Row is a classic 7x6 gravity game: drop discs into columns and connect four horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

World and Mission

Every disc changes both the visible threat and the future landing height of a column. A strong move creates a line while limiting the opponent's reply.

The direct Battle loop keeps the board readable from the first drop to the Result. Replay resets the board so a different opening can be tested immediately.

How the Systems Work

The board has seven columns and six rows. A disc falls to the lowest open cell in its selected column; a full column cannot accept another disc.

A round ends when a player connects four discs horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, or when the board fills. Difficulty changes the AI response, not the win rule.

Hint highlights one tactical suggestion without auto-playing it; Undo restores the prior turn. Result offers Replay and Main, while local settings stay in this browser.

How to Play

  1. Choose a difficulty, then select a column to drop your disc.
  2. Read the highlighted legal move and plan for a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal four.
  3. Use Hint for one tactical suggestion without auto-playing the move.
  4. Reach four in a row before the AI, then use Replay or Main to continue.

Strategy Tips

  • Prefer the center columns early because they support more horizontal and diagonal lines.
  • Before making a drop, check the opponent's next winning column as well as your own immediate threat.
  • Avoid creating a winning-looking cell that gives the opponent a forced reply on the next turn.

Campaign and Difficulty Growth

Easy, Medium, and Hard change the opponent's decision pressure while keeping the same 7x6 board and four-line win condition.

Replayable rounds make progress visible through better openings, safer blocks, and fewer forced replies rather than account levels.

Developer Design Note

Four in a Row uses the shared Classic Logic Lab shell, a responsive 7x6 gravity board, AI-turn lock, advisory Hint, reversible Undo, Result recovery, and browser-local preferences.
