Hexa Sort

Hexa Sort is a deterministic stack puzzle with 30 handcrafted stages and an Endless score mode. Place one offered stack on an open hex, then watch adjacent matching top colors combine until the board becomes stable.

World and Mission

Every stage begins with an authored arrangement, objective, move budget, and stack offer sequence. The early campaign teaches clean color planning before frozen cells, gems, blocked spaces, rainbow chips, bombs, and mixed objectives appear.

Endless mode removes the campaign target and keeps increasing color and special-tile pressure until no legal open hex remains.

How the Systems Work

Only the contiguous matching run at the top of a stack can move. Lower colors remain hidden until the layers above them leave or clear.

Automatic movement is deterministic: the resolver favors clears and useful objectives, keeps transfers adjacent, and avoids revisiting the same board state.

Ten matching chips clear together and reveal the next color. Frozen stacks thaw from adjacent placements, gems are collected from neighboring activity, and special chips resolve inside the same locked turn.

The tray always offers three stacks. A placement is final, so inspect both visible top colors and the lower layers before choosing a hex.

How to Play

  1. Choose one of the 30 stages, or start Endless from Main.
  2. Select one of the three offered stacks.
  3. Tap an open hex to place the complete stack.
  4. Let every adjacent merge and clear finish before planning the next placement.
  5. Complete the displayed objective within the move budget, or keep scoring in Endless until the board fills.

Strategy Tips

  • Prefer placements that concentrate one top color without sealing every open hex.
  • Count how many matching chips a chain can reveal before committing.
  • Keep more than one useful landing area for awkward tray stacks.
  • Treat frozen cells, gems, and objectives as part of the same plan instead of chasing only the largest visible stack.
  • When two merge directions look equal, consider which lower color will be exposed next.

Campaign and Difficulty Growth

Stages 1-10 use ten distinct opening silhouettes and teach placement, top runs, and ten-chip clears.

Middle stages add frozen cells, stones, gems, rainbow chips, bombs, color objectives, and tighter move limits.

Stages 26-30 combine several systems under five-color pressure. Endless mode increases pressure continuously and stores the best score in this browser.

Developer Design Note

Chip transfers use persistent visible layers and sequential readable motion. The board resolves one deterministic transaction at a time, while the Stage selector recycles nine stable cards so long campaigns remain smooth without building one permanent item per stage. The complete interface uses one centered logical layout with a 920-pixel maximum. Phone, landscape, and desktop views scale the same controls, hit areas, artwork, and game coordinates together instead of stretching individual pieces. Touch, mouse, and keyboard therefore act on the same legal state. The Main poster and Start Game action remain separate from Stage management, while Stage selection, Battle, dialogs, and Result keep their own bounded content and return path.

Parent Note

Hexa Sort is a general-audience browser puzzle recommended for ages 9+ and family play. No account or purchase is required. Campaign unlocks, Endless best score, language, and sound preferences are stored only in this browser. You can play without creating an account. Progress is saved in local browser storage on the current browser profile, not in an online account or cross-device database. Clearing site data, using private browsing, changing browsers, or moving to another device can create a separate save or remove the existing one. Language, sound, and reduced-motion preferences follow the shared WeightPlay controls when the browser permits storage. No guide result is a medical, school, or professional assessment.

FAQ

How many stages are included?
There are 30 handcrafted campaign stages plus Endless mode.
Can I move a stack after placing it?
No. Choose carefully; the placement is final and matching top runs resolve automatically.
Which chips are allowed to move?
Only one contiguous run of the same color at the top of a stack can move to an adjacent stack.
When does a color clear?
A connected resolved stack clears when it reaches ten matching chips.
Is Endless random?
Offers vary, but the rules and every merge decision are deterministic from the current state.
Is progress saved?
Campaign unlocks, Endless best score, and preferences are stored locally in this browser.
Which controls and screen sizes are supported?
The same rules support touch, mouse, and keyboard where the game uses those inputs. The interface scales as one logical layout across the required phone, landscape, and desktop viewports.
Can progress move automatically to another device?
No. This game currently saves to local browser storage only, so another browser profile or device begins with its own separate local progress unless a future account system is added.

Only matching top layers can travel.

How to play

  1. Choose one of three stacks, then an empty hex.
  2. Adjacent matching top runs move into the newly placed stack.
  3. Ten matching chips clear and reveal the next chain.

Anchored merge order

The newly placed stack stays put; only directly adjacent matching top runs move into it.
