World and Mission

A small star-serpent wakes inside a night grid. Each food spark adds another segment, turning every safe turn into the next spatial decision.

Each run rotates through Open, Gate, and Orbit board patterns. The visible route changes without hiding the rules, so a replay asks you to read the space again rather than repeat one memorized path.

How the Systems Work

The serpent moves continuously on a grid. Food increases its length and score, while walls or the serpent's own body end the round.

Gate and Orbit patterns add visible obstacle cells that cannot be entered or used for food. Reaching the current food milestone settles the bonus immediately, then the run continues toward a higher target.

How to Play

  1. Use Arrow keys or WASD on desktop, visible direction controls on touch screens, or swipe across the board on mobile.
  2. Turn before the next grid cell closes; opposite-direction turns are ignored to protect the current route.
  3. Keep moving and collect food sparks while the serpent grows; there is no fixed food-count finish.
  4. Hitting a wall or your own trail ends the run; Retry starts a fresh board while Best stays in local storage.

Strategy Tips

  • Plan two turns ahead instead of chasing the nearest spark.
  • Use the outer edge early, then leave a turning lane before the serpent grows.
  • Choose a longer route when it keeps the next corner open.
  • Short, deliberate direction changes keep the route readable as the trail grows.
  • Treat a visible obstacle as a route boundary, not a target. Check the next two open cells before committing to a turn.
  • After a milestone, use the bonus feedback as a pause to reassess the new target and the space left by the longer trail.

Campaign and Difficulty Growth

The first spark teaches grid steering. Later sparks lengthen the trail and increase the spatial risk, making each safe turn matter more.

The opening pace leaves room to learn. Food thresholds tighten the timer, run numbers raise the milestone, and the rotating board patterns create a fresh route decision on replay.

Developer Design Note

Snake uses WeightPlay's own star-serpent, night-grid palette, food sparks, visible obstacle language, responsive shell, localized controls, immediate milestone feedback, and continuous survival loop.

FAQ

What ends a run?
A wall, an obstacle, or the serpent's own trail ends the run.
Does the serpent move continuously?
Yes. It advances on a timed grid until the player collides or chooses to return.
Which controls work?
Arrow keys, WASD, visible direction controls, and horizontal or vertical swipe.
Is progress saved?
Only the local Best score is saved in this browser.
What changes between runs?
The run number, milestone target, and board pattern rotate so the route must be read again.
What happens at a milestone?
The current food pickup immediately adds the bonus, shows localized feedback, and keeps the endless run active.
