World and Mission
One cross-shaped board starts with pegs around a single empty hole. Each move is a small commitment: a peg crosses a neighbor and lands in an empty hole two spaces away.
The goal is not simply to make jumps. You must keep future landing holes open until the board can be reduced to one peg.
How the Systems Work
Select a peg, then choose an empty hole two spaces away over one adjacent peg. A legal jump removes the middle peg and leaves the source hole empty.
Hint marks one safe next idea without playing it. Undo restores the previous board, while New Puzzle resets the fixed setup.
Result reports the remaining pegs and move count. One peg is a win; more pegs means the route needs another attempt.
How to Play
- Start the fixed board and inspect the empty holes around the pegs.
- Select a peg that can jump over a neighboring peg.
- Choose the empty landing hole two spaces away in a straight line.
- Use Hint for one safe candidate or Undo when you want to test a different route.
- Finish with one peg, read Result, and replay to search for a cleaner route.
Strategy Tips
- Before jumping, look at the landing hole you will need next, not only the peg you remove now.
- Protect open holes near the edge because they can become hard to reach.
- Use Hint as a suggestion, then compare the resulting board yourself.
- When a route leaves several pegs stranded, Undo early instead of spending moves on a dead end.
Campaign and Difficulty Growth
The first attempt teaches source, middle peg, and landing-hole geometry. Replays turn the same fixed board into a planning challenge: protect exits and reduce the final count to one.
Developer Design Note
Peg Solitaire uses one readable board, explicit legal-target feedback, advisory Hint, reversible Undo, and an unambiguous one-peg Result so a classic puzzle remains approachable on touch, mouse, and keyboard.
